Writing a life. Presentation of the Autumn 2026 Program.
To inspire and renew today’s priests, the Institute for Continuing Theological Education presents its Fall 2026 program, exploring the art of writing your life through powerful narratives of conversion. From the Confessions of St. Augustine—a timeless model of spiritual autobiography—to Renaissance masterpieces through your own written reflections, this program invites you to reflect on the stories of your life and deepen your own vocation.
The first module, launching in September 2026, follows in the footsteps of St. Augustine, mirroring Pope Leo XIV’s upcoming pilgrimage to the Father of the Church’s bishopric in Algeria.
The second module from October 5-23 will be a storyteller’s workshop, especially for priests. This Module will also include several tours of locations in and around Rome significant for understanding the life of Saint Augustine.
Finally, the third module running from October 26-November 20, will look at the self-portraits of renaissance artist to understand what they are telling us about their own faith. This module will also include a 6-day pilgrimage in Northern Italy, not only to view renaissance art, but also sites important in the life of Saint Augustine.
Discover how a priest today can draw renewal from these models during a sabbatical in Rome—where faith, history, and personal reflection converge.
Join us—where your story meets eternity!
MODULE 1: 📅 September 7 – October 2, 2026
Walk in the Footsteps of St. Augustine: A Once-in-a-Lifetime Sabbatical Experience!
From Rome to Algeria – A Pilgrimage of Faith, History, and Dialogue
Baptized in Milan by St. Ambrose, St. Augustine left Rome —where his mother, St. Monica, passed away—and returned to Algeria, his homeland. It was there, as an African bishop, that he penned his masterpieces: the Confessions, The City of God, and the Rule of St. Augustine, which continues to guide religious communities today.
Last December, Pope Leo XIV declared:
«Personally, I hope to go to Algeria, to visit the locations of St. Augustine’s life, but also to continue the message of dialogue and the construction of bridges between the Christian world and the Muslim world».
So now, be part of history as YOU can follow in his footsteps!
