One wonderful thing about the Institute for Continuing Theological Education (ICTE) is the opportunity for priests to visit significant places for our faith in Rome and beyond.
Watch them exploring Florence!
One day, during the last fall session, thanks to the exceptional art historian Liz Lev, the priests on sabbatical visited some of Florence's most amazing museums, starting with one of the supreme masterpieces of Renaissance painting in the Brancacci Chapel, with Masaccio's fresco of the Expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden.
After this encounter with the first Renaissance, the 23 priests discovered at the Bargello Museum how Donatello and Verrocchio (Leonardo's master) sculpted remarkable representations of a young, handsome, and victorious David.
But above all, reinvigorated after a sumptuous meal of Tuscan specialties, the ICTE priests were left in awe “under” Michelangelo's exceptional David.
